Engine: Unreal Engine 4

Game Name: Project 1v1

Platform: PC

Development Time: 4 weeks

Role:

  • Level Designer

Designed

Pit is a canyon-like multiplayer map constructed from an original concept using BSP in the Unreal Engine.

Combat occurs mostly along the upper outer ridges of the map as players will spend much of their time maneuvering through rocky pillars to break visible line of sight. The gimmick and least advantageous location of this map is the lowest level of the map, the Pit. This vital part of the level made several transformations after many iterations and eventually became a bridged pit with pillars to give disadvantageous players a bit of cover.

The level also provides a few opportunities to disengage from combat to strategize the next line of combat against there opponent. Portals are place throughout the map that spit the user(s) out in adjacent parts of the map giving players time to plan the next attack or gather health packs and cards.

Although the Pit can be a difficult position for the player to be in, they are given the choice of climbing the pit walls to reach the upper outer rim, using the caved passage that guides the player back to the better defended top level or using the portal in the passage.
